G&G designs press and moulding tools in-house and also utilises external design houses. Our experienced design group uses the very latest in 3D software to produce press components, mouldings and assemblies to the exact requirements desired.
The external design houses that G&G uses are in Ireland, the USA, Germany and the UK. Tool specifications are fully described in G&G's booklets in English or Chinese.
The type of demanding high precision press tooling G&G has extensive experience in includes: tooling for ferrous and non ferrous progression press work, compound tooling, tooling for small deep drawings, small fine blanking tools, in-die assembly tooling as well as all types of secondary operation tools (stage tooling).
G&G has built up experience in the area of insert moulding and tries to fit as many processes as possible into the moulding cycle such as circuit separating and testing (where the insert is a circuit). G&G also has extensive experience in cosmetic parts including translucent parts with light lenses.
Design is carried out on the PEPS 4.3.1.1 and Cad-link systems using data in dwg, dxf, iges and stp formats.
G&G Engineering regularly builds injection moulding and press tools in its modern in-house tooling facility.
The high capital investment in CNC machines for 3D-milling/4 axis die sinking/wire EDM and CAD equipment mean that returns in toolmaking tend to be modest over the short term. G&G however, sees a modern fully equipped toolroom as essential to support both its production and automated assembly activities. A frequent customer requirement is modification, refurbishment or tweaking of existing tooling and time is invariably of the essence.
G&G issues weekly updates to its customers on its tooling schedule incorporating:
To supplement its in-house capacity and to meet customer's demanding targets, G&G projects manages suites of tools with suppliers in China from its office in Shenzhen. G&G's Managing Director, Roland Gröpler, divides his time between the China and Ireland facilities, spending more in the former during tool manufacture and commissioning, and in the latter during production startup. G&G also sources specialist tooling in Eastern Europe.
